August 24, 1934 -- Cedar Bluff


Cedar Bluff, Aug 22 - Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilson attended conference at Elk Lick, WV on Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs. Jim White, daughter Fern, son, Cecil and Mrs. Otis White spent Monday and Mrs. Wilburn Russell at this place.

Misses Helen and Virginia Wilson returned home here on Sunday after spending a few days with their grandmother, Mrs. Callie Hedrick, of Wytheville.

Miss Susie Wilson had as her dinner guests on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Zimmerman, of Bristol Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Willie Wilson, of Richlands; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Beavers and Messrs Cecil, Rex, and Harman Beavers, of Renick WV. 

August 24, 1934 -- Pounding Mill

H.C. Osborne, of Fincastle visited his aged father, James Osborne and sister, Mrs. G.A. Riley.

Anna Riley and Janie Ringstaff visited Mrs. John Boothe on Monday. 

Mr. and Mrs. John McCraw, of Portsmouth Va. are visiting sister-in-law, Mrs. Laura Myers and family.

Miss Agnes Duncan, of Tazewell, is visiting her sister-in-law Mrs. T.D. Duncan.

Mr. and Mrs. Trayer and Peggy left Tuesday for World's Fair in Chicago. Mrs. W.B. Steele says she can beat 'em there by 41 years, as she attended in 1893. 

Miss Mary Spratt came home from Richlands on Tuesday to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Spratt.

Charlotte Asbury spent weekend visiting Miss Lena Dennison, Tazewell, who accompanied her home for a visit. When Miss Asbury gets tired of her she will accompany her home and when Miss Dennison gets tired of Charlotte she will accompany her back home. 

Carrie Williams left on Tuesday for Bluefield WV, to spend a month with her sister, Mrs. Tate McNutt, who has a broken ankle.

Mrs. Lizzie Brewster and daughters, Frances, Hazel, and Clara, visited daughter and sister, Mrs. Shamblin first of the week at Indian.

September 28, 1934 -- Richlands

Miss Virginia McGuire and her sister, Helen, of Cedar Bluff, spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Alley of this place.

Kenneth R. Belcher, of Richlands, and Virginia Bane, of Cedar Bluff, were married Friday.  The bride and groom are very popular among a large host of friends.  Mr. Belcher is employed in the Richlands post office.

Cecil Alley, of Bandy, spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. R.H. Burress, here.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry Pruett, Jr. are proud parents of a daughter, Peggy Ann, The mother was Zeda Morgan, of this place before her marriage to Mr. Pruett.  Both are graduates of Richlands High School.

September 28, 1934 -- Pounding Mill

Mrs. W.R. Adams spent the weekend with an uncle in Roanoke.

Dr. & Mrs. Rex E. Steele and Billy, camped last weekend in the county of Bland.

Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Craig and sons, Teeny and Carlton, spent the weekend with Mr. Craig's parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Craig at Sipman, Va.

Mr. & Mrs. Paul Hefner, of Westerley, WV visited their mother, Mrs. Hallie McGee and family this week.

Mr. & Mrs. C.F. Thomas and family attended the Ball reunion Sunday at Belfast.

Grover Trout, of Williamson, WV, was here Monday to see his uncle, Bent Moore, who remains about the same.

Mrs. James Steele and Mr. & Mrs. Ellis McGee visited the formers parents, Mr. & Mrs. Grat Steele, Sunday at Paint Lick.

William Altizer and John Joe Meek came over from Burkes Garden to Cliffield on Sunday.
