How can I help with the 1860 Project?

Do you have access to the 1860 Tazewell County Census microfilm at a local library, FHC, historical society, genealogy society or other facility?  [Roll M653-1381]

If so, I'm looking for people to make copies of pages from the 1860 census - to post on-line.   The images will be posted at our site - with links from the index.  You can choose which pages you wish to make make copies of ... and you can choose how many pages.   If your library charges .25 per copy, and you only wish to spend $5.00 on the project ... go ahead and do 20 copies for our project.  If you can spend $10.00 ... go ahead and make 40 copies.  Every page that you are able to contribute will help our project.

  • I DO ask that you try to get the best copies that you can.

  • I DO ask that you get the entire page to fit on a single sheet of paper. (8½" X 11")

  • You do NOT have to transcribe the names on the pages.

  • You do NOT have to send them to me via any special mailing service.  Normal United States Postal Service delivery is fine.

Once you finish making the copies, just contact me via e-mail and tell me that you're done.  I will send you my home address - so that you can mail them to me.  When they arrive - I'll get them scanned in and posted on-line with the appropriate links!!!  Your name will be posted as a contributor to the site!!  And, the best part is that you will know that you've helped out a fellow researcher.

Contact Amy to volunteer!

Please volunteer for certain pages ... so that I can keep track of which pages are being copied, and which ones are still needed.  :)
