John E. Fields, 78, of Green Valley, died in a Bluefield Hospital Monday night after a long illness. Born in Cedar Bluff, Va. he was the son of the late James and Laura Tate Fields. He was a retired lumber grader and mill operator for the Belcher Lumber Company. He was a member of the Greenview United Methodist Church at Green Valley. He had been a resident of Green Valley for the past 30 years, moving there from Bluefield, Va. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Puckett Fields; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Ellen) Tabor, Mrs. Clara Gilliam, both of Green Valley and Mrs. Frances Lambert of Glenwood Park, Princeton; One brother, Peery Fields of Green Valley; three half brothers, Vernon Fields of Montcalm, Eulice Fields and Carl Fields both of Bluefield, Va.; one half sister, Pauline Lambert of Bluefield, Va.; three step sisters, Mrs. Marie Pickett, Mrs. Viola Evans, and Mrs. Annie Patrick, all of Bluefield; 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at George W. Seaver Funeral Home at Princeton with Rev. Bill Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton. Pallbearers will be Virgil Shields, C. D. Lee, W. L. Warden, Witt Brooks, Nick Weaver and Charlie Hatcher. | |||||
