| Joseph Vandike and Abegale Matney were married July 21, 1829, in Tazewell County Virginia. Joseph was the son of James and Susan Vandike. Abegale Matney was the daughter of Walter Matney and Charity
Young Matney. They moved to the Mill Branch Section of the Dismal River area before 1850. Joseph died soon after moving there.
