Louis James & James Elexander Mathena

The man on the left is my great great grandfather Louis (sometimes spelled Lewis) James Mathena. He was born in Tazewell County, Virginia on July 9, 1836 and died in Hartford KS on Feb. 14, 1927.  He was the oldest son of  John Wilson Mathena born and Mary Havens.  Louis James Mathena married Elizabeth Jane Spence on March 30, 1854 in Tazewell County, VA.

The man on the left is Louis James Mathena's son James Elexander Mathena, born on April 28, 1866 in Dunlap, IA  James Elexander Mathena died on May 26, 1965 in Bismarck, ND.
